Kenya & Water:
Problems with water supply:
There are many problems with water supply including unclean water, accessing the water, and getting the water. The rainfall can be a erratic weather pattern than normal and Kenya experiences many droughts. The water causes illnesses and a child dies every 20 seconds from diarrhea. The water can sometimes be far away from the village so women and girls will go and get it. Many girls cannot go to school because they have to get water to survive. On the way the women and girls have to exposure to the elements and risk of attack by predators, the primary water gatherers are also the most susceptible to water-borne diseases. Also water can be very hard to access. This can be because of the distance and if the water is underground. Water is limited in Africa so it may be difficult to find depending on the location. The water supply is very limited and unsanitary in Kenya making it hard to access water.

in Kenya how does insufficient access to clean water affect other societal problems?
The unsanitary water can lead to illnesses that cause people to die. The sewage also runs through the street and schools in some parts of Kenya. This makes the town polluted and unsanitary. People must be taught about hygiene and sanitation. Young girls cannot go to school because they must go and fetch water for their families. They carry about 4 to 5 gallons and walk many miles. A child dies every 20 seconds of diarrhea. Water pathogens, infectious agent, are a huge health problem in Kenya. This unclean water cause diseases such as cholera and parasitic worms. The rate of exposure is extremely high because the water is not only contaminated at the basins and pumps where water is collected but the containers are almost always found, second-hand objects, often previously used for oil, fertilizer or wastes. This can cause lots of problems and many kids have to drop out of school. There society is very unclean causing many sicknesses and hardships.
The water crisis in Kenya is getting better but the problem is killing thousands of people a day. Upstanders have been helping them, but a few organizations can't do everything. More people need to help. The water is unsanitary and causes diseases. Women and girls aren't getting the education they need because they need to go get water. When they are out there, they are exposed to danger. Dehydration, predators, illnesses and injury. We take water for granted sometimes. Water is not an unlimited resource. Water Is unclean and can even be fatal. Imagine taking a sip of water and not
knowing if you will live. The water crisis in Kenya is getting better and worse at the same time. It is about time we did something about it, all of us.
